Business licenses are included as part of the building permit application process.
The Building Division manages all work associated with processing building plans and permits. For all work including tenant improvements in a commercial building to remodels, additions, pools, patios for residential homes, a building permit is required. Division staff, in coordination with the City’s contract consultant, CSG Consultants, carries out plan review, building inspection, permit processing and building code interpretation, as well as providing advice and guidance for applicants.
CSG Consultants is responsible for the review of submitted project plans to ensure compliance with the State of California Building Code, as well as the City’s ordinances and regulations. This includes building code compliance inspections throughout construction of permitted projects, alterations or repairs to enforce the requirements of the City’s and State’s codes.
